About Us

Sahid Smriti Awasiya Secondary School was established in 2066 BS with one clear purpose—to make education accessible to those who need it the most. The school was started under the Conflict Victim Education Program of the Government of Nepal to support the children of martyrs, missing persons, and families who were injured or disabled during the Maoist People’s War, the People’s Movement, and the Madhes Movement.

Accessibility

Our school was started so that children from martyrs’ families, conflict victims, orphans, Dalits, and poor groups can get the same chance to study as everyone else.

Community

More than 240 students from 21 districts live and learn together here. They study, play, and grow as one big family.

Opportunity

We teach not only from books but also life skills, sports, and culture, so children grow confident and ready for the future.

Future

Our mission is to create a model residential school where every child, regardless of background, can dream bigger and build a brighter future.

School
Established

Our school was opened under the Conflict Victim Education Program to support children of martyrs, missing, injured, and disabled families. From the start, we provided free education,  hostel, food, healthcare, and stationery.

Admission
Expanded

At first, only conflict victim children were admitted. Later, our school also welcomed marginalized groups, Dalits, disaster-affected, orphans, and very poor children, giving them the same care and residential education.

Government
Grant Support

Since 2075/76 BS, we have been receiving annual grants from the federal Government through Jiri Municipality. This grant helps us manage teachers’ salaries, staff pay, school operations, food, clothing, health care, and free books for local students.

Who We
Are Today

Today, our school is home to 243 students from 21 districts. Out of them, 200 live in our hostel, including conflict victim children, disaster-affected orphans, Dalits, and those from very poor families.

Students Details

There are altogether 243 students currently enrolled in the school from Grade 1 to Grade 12. 200 students are residential, and 43 students are day boarders.
Out of the 200 residential students:
78 Conflict victim categories
26 Disaster-affected
21 Marginalized castes
25 Parentless
50 Poor Dalit and deprived groups

Beyond Education – A Complete Support System

From Grade 1 to 12, every child receives free hostel, food, clothing, stationery, medical care, and sanitation along with free education in Nepal.

Initially, admissions were limited to children of martyrs and conflict victims. Since 2073 BS, we have expanded to include orphans, Dalits, marginalized children, disaster-affected families, and others who lack access to quality education in Nepal.

Run by Shahid Pratishthan Nepal and funded by the Government of Nepal, the school has been supported through Jiri Municipality since 2075/076 BS. Funding covers salaries, school management, hostel, and staff services.

Every child—residential or day scholar—gets free textbooks, snacks, and full education support in Nepal.

Life here goes beyond books. Students practice self-reliance through cooking, farming, livestock care, cleaning, and school maintenance. They also participate in sports, cultural events, leadership training, and social service—preparing them to be responsible citizens.

Today, Sahid Smriti School is not just a school, but a home of hope and opportunity—offering free education and hostel in Nepal to children who dream of a brighter future.
